I wrote “Okada Boys: Is there punk in Nigeria?” for my zine #ShotgunSeamstress in 2015. It was a short but meandering exploration of subculture in the country my parents immigrated from.

At the time, I wasn’t aware of any actual #punk bands in #Nigeria, so I wrote about a stud-and-leather wearing pop star named #CharlyBoy who is famous for not only his music but his unorthodox lifestyle. At the time I wrote the article, he had been in the news for his work organizing okada (motorcycle taxi drivers).

Today, a decade later, I finally found out about a #NigerianPunk band through @cybeardjm called “1 Last Autograph.” They formed in 2014 and are now defunct: m.soundcloud.com/1lastautograp

Spannend im Bezug auf die #Zugvögel ist übrigens die Beobachtung, dass die #BerlinerOrnothologischeArbeitsgemeinschaft #BOA (wie auch andere #Avifaunisten) üblicherweise vom "Heimzug" & "Wegzug" der #Vögel sprechen.
Ob das die #Nachtigall das auch so sieht & #Berlin als "#Heimat", aber #Nigeria als "Fremde" betrachtet? 🤔
