Two wild garlic leaf shoots pushed through a wilted birch leaf, whose edges proved too strong. The green leaves could only unfold before and after this birch leaf napkin ring. The last few days have been dry and windless, so the construction held up. Then the first rain came, and that was it.

Strangely, this is the trunk of a birch tree (there is a small preserved section of white birch bark above, and a piece of chaga), apparently very old. It was taken on an unnamed hilltop not far from the old Finnish border.

Happy equinox, the traditional time for the festival of Ostara. In 2023, I made this mixed-media artwork inspired by Pagan tradition.

A fantastic (if I do say so myself) portrait showing a hare standing in a flowery meadow before a burnt, yet strangely flowering, tree while the sun rises casting fiery light in the sky over the mountains in the background. A collection of coloured eggs lies in the grass across from the hare. In the corners of the portrait are illustrations of plants. Inscribed over everything is a magic circle with a pentagram, elemental and astrological symbols, and the Wheel of the Year.
