This morning's #workout#music is some old-school #Funk from Nik West. Her mix of #FunkRock and #JazzFunk has clear roots in #ParliamentFunkadelic. The set takes place in front of the most incongruous audience ever. It's either a high art satire/comedy, the entertainment for a time-share retreat, or a spot-on metaphor for the modern Democratic Party. Strange.
#SergeGainsbourg#Cannabis#JaneBirkin#AnneGermain#Soundtrack#Psychedelic#Rock#Orchestra#FunkRock#JazzFunk#EasyListening
There were plenty of bass players before Les Claypool, and Les' stuff in and out of Primus has been incredible with some wild funk stuff, both more standard and not. But there was nothing that sounded like this before Frizzle Fry, and there won't ever be anything like this again. This shit is 100% original Claypool insanity, and we're lucky to have lived through this. The 1990s were fucking MAGICAL
Parliament release what many consider their finest on December 15, 1975. The Library of Congress added the album to the National Recording Registry in 2011, stating it "has had an enormous influence on jazz, rock and dance music." And, it's #363 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. #parliament#mothershipconnection#funk#funkrock#georgeclinton#70smusic#rnb Listen to Mothership Connection by Parliament on Amazon Music ...
Space Cowboy with interplanetary good vibes! Jamiroque - 'High Times: Singles 1992 - 2006'. (6 November 2006)
Perfect for new listeners and longtime fans alike, this collection of Jamiroquai’s greatest hits takes you on a groovy journey with tasty basslines, showcasing their finest years from their inception up to 2006, all in chronological order. Get ready for the infectiously funky classics like "Little L", "Canned Heat", "Space Cowboy", "Cosmic Girl", "Deeper Underground", "Feels Like It Should", "Seven Days Sunny In June", "Fool Foolosophy" and "Virtual Insanity" to name just a few. Plus, the compilation includes two brand new tracks made just for this release — "Runaway" and "Radio" — both of which are great additions to Jamiroquai’s discography, in my opinion. Their sound may be a homage to '70s funk, R&B, disco, and Stevie Wonder, but with a modern twist that is hard to fault — it is so catchy, you will find yourself dancing along to every beat.

It showcased a new direction for Duran Duran with a #funkRock sound. It was the first single released by Duran Duran as a trio as #RogerTaylor and #AndyTaylor had both left the band by the time it was released. Funkadelic picked up where Jimi Hendrix left off on their seminal 'Maggot Brain'. (12 July 1971)
When you blend hard funk rock and psychedelic soul with Jimi Hendrix embellishments, you get 'Maggot Brain' — the last album with the original lineup. Whatever substances George Clinton and the gang indulged in during the making of 'Maggot Brain', they certainly helped capture lightning in a bottle with this seminal album. Funky, loud, dark, spacey, and trance-inducing; it is definitely an album that should be experienced from start to finish in one sitting for the best listening experience. Highlights include the epic title track, "Wars Of Armageddon", "Super Stupid", "Hit And Quit It", "You And Your Folks, Me And My Folks", and "Can You Get To That". It is quite likely that if Jimi Hendrix were still alive, he would have composed something similar to 'Maggot Brain' at some point in the early '70s. His "fingerprints" are all over this album, thanks to Eddie Hazel. And oh man, Hazel's guitar solos on the title track are spellbinding!
