RoosThe wild blackberry is forming new leaves. It is not everybody’s best friend due to its invasive character, but we learned to love it. We have a part of the garden full of wild blackberry and it has so many upsides! We make delicious jam of the fruits and in this season we collect the young leaves, ferment them, and make a herbal tea. Next to this, it serves as a natural fence to keep the dears off our land, it provides shelter and food for all kinds of animals and the roots of the brambles help to prevent soil erosion on the slope. Now I just let them be, unless they happen to sit right above my bed or so. This time of year, they do a great job of keeping the small flies population under control, and no other pests, such as spider mite, seem to establish when spiders are around. MartinI'm looking to create a Mastodon account for a UK based environmental group. Mainly involved with <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localfood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#localfood</a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/permacultue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#permacultue</a> and <a href="https://toot.community/tags/TransisitonTown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TransisitonTown</a>.I'm still trying to workout many aspects of Mastodon but know the choice of instance is important. Especially when it comes to linking up with like minded communities.Anyone know an instance that is already popular with UK sustainability and environmental group or does anyone have plans to create one with this aim?
