@macst It is interesting that there appear to be four nails engraved under IHS. Previously I had only seen such illustrations with three nails (see picture of a farmhouse in #Olsberg, built in the 18th century)

The “Olsberger Hütte” (bottom left) with the Gierskopp (center), the “Briloner Eisenberg” and the “Borberg” in the background.

Iron ore from the “Briloner Eisenberg” was smelted at the Olsberger Hütte as early as the 15th century.

At this time, the original parish, the church and the monastery on the Borberg no longer had any sacred significance.

The destroyed forest on the Borberg

The western slope of the Borberg has been destroyed by the effects of climate change.
The spruce monocultures have died and could only be removed.

The Gierskopp from the air

The Gierskopp is a very old place, associated at the latest with the early medieval curtis on the Borberg.

The “Schultenhof” farm belonged to the original Saxon rampart complex and later Frankish or Carolingian curtis on the Borberg plateau.
