FDA seeks contractors to replace dozens of feds laid off two weeks ago

Interesting how it says some of this can be done remotely by contractors. Hiring contractors to replace them is a way to get around CTAP.FDA wrote that the need for contractors is “immediate,” and that hired contractors would be given laptops, badges and other federal equipment to be able do the work. The document also states that some of the travel coordination work can be done remotely. Whistleblower at NLRB was threatened with sensitive information from his SF86!!!

The Whistleblower from the NPR article this morning was just on Rachel Maddow and had this interesting component to the larger story.The Whistleblower had a threatening letter taped to his front door (had only been living there for 2 months) which included a picture of him walking his dog from a drone, a long with incredibly sensitive information that the Whistleblower had only reported on his SF86, and wasn't every posted online.They were vague about what information that was related to for obvious reasons and there is apparently an active police investigation into who did this.But still... this means that essentially the most sensitive information for all federal workers and contractors who have security clearances (who all have to file an SF86) are now compromised. Any scandalous information or possibly blackmailable information in your SF86 could be used by the Executive branch (or a DOGE staffer with access?) against you.This one admission to me is actually on par or larger of a story than the initial NPR article about the DOGE access to the NLRB databases.This is massive.

Treasury secretary discussing the "amazing talent we already have in the building"

It's a post on that social media. 0% raise in 2026 confirmed. Surely massive RIFs, relentless hate on social media, relentlessly pushing bills to cut benefits and refusing to give pay raises will attract and retain "amazing talent".No hate towards anyone in the IRS. I'm a Department of Army civ myself I know people work hard at the fed. However, I recently got a private sector contractor offer that is 50% more than my GS pay (~100k --> ~150k). How will the treasury and IRS develop "amazing talent" when the current leadership actively wants their workers to be homeless and "be in trauma"? This place is as hostile as it gets

Telltale Signs that Reveal Our "New" Colleagues?

Yes, im referring to those new colleagues that work for the department whose name resembles the word Dodge. Can you spot them easily at your agency? What makes them so obvious?Telltale signs that I have observed:They look like they've barely finished puberty.They universally dress horribly. Cheap suits. Like they've never had to wear business attire before. Stick out like a sore thumb; complete fish out of water. They walk with an ultra douchy, arrogant vibe. Sort of like a cross between "revenge of the nerds" and Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (you shouldn't need to Google those nmes). Mind you, they can be women as well. They always travel in groups of two or more.The American flag lapel pin is a huge giveaway. Most of them wear one.

Where is FElon? What is he up to now? Hardly mentioned in the news.

I have a strange feeling that FElon and his cronies are up to something more. Haven’t seen much on the news about him except him possibly leaving the end of May. It makes me wonder if he is setting up new agencies outside the government with the data he has stolen to replace the existing ones. Haven’t heard that is the plan. Idk just a feeling. Wondering if others are thinking the same.

SSA Moving Forward on Schedule F which would allow termination “at will”

Here at SSA, I learned yesterday that all of HR will be converted to Schedule F. Some HR managers warned their employees before the 4/7 voluntary reassignment deadline. On 4/11, a director in HR OPE confirmed in an MS Teams meeting chat that the HR position conversion to Schedule F was “a fact.”   I’ve seen a screenshot.  Such information would have been critically useful to know before the VR deadline. (I assume they will designate all of HR Schedule F as soon as possible and then terminate us at will rather than following RIF/severance law.)I’m not sure how many people were left in the dark about this critical issue, but I’m guessing it’s at least dozens, if not hundreds. I asked my supervisor to ask our CHCO to share the pending schedule F designation and reopen the voluntary reassignment, to level the playing field within HR. He said no. He admitted to learning about the schedule F designation right after the VR deadline. SSA employees, what do you know about the agency’s plan for Schedule F? Feds, what’s happened with Schedule F in your agency?

Gen-Z Probie: Gonna Ride This Out

I don’t know if this was the right decision or not but it’s the decision I’ve made. I’m less than a year in, just graduated from grad school this past May in 2024. I feel terrified, financially I will be in trouble if (probably when) I get RIFd but my ego literally won’t let these mfers push me out of my position with ease. I know there’s not too many other Gen-Zers out there but I hope those of yall that are holding strong know you’re not alone, and those of you who chose to leave I hope you are doing okay and found some kind of safety net. For my older feds who work with any of us, please keep up the support, it means the world. Since RTO, there have been many experienced Feds who have talked me through a lot of this and act as a source for wisdom. I know this nightmare is technically just beginning so for now, I’ll buckle my figurative seatbelt and pray. Much love everybody, stay strong.
