*watching climate change/ capitalism effects devastate CA* yep, #Louisiana has been saying for idk the last decade i guess in my own memory that we were the forefront of climate change, and the whole nation will be watching us eventually to use our methods of survival to save themselves... I've been really feeling that the last year, that weight, that knowledge sharing, esp as our community/ collective projects are more visibly taking shape and substance...

Supporting an #Indigenous cultural artisan pal who is navigating poverty and healthcare needs right now, and they also are in the path of Milton in southern FL, on the Seminole reservation. They are trying to see a doctor before the hurricane shuts the area down. Any donations or shareouts would be appreciated, the current goal for the immediate healthcare needs is a little over $400.

"Emergency Legal Responders here. We are encouraging folks to report damages to damage.la.gov in the hopes triggering a major disaster declaration. This would allow for FEMA assistance, and maybe DSNAP, and Disaster Unemployment. Spread the word instagram.com/p/C_01WCRxOyZ/?i

Keep in mind reporting damages is for surveying purposes and not actually filing a claim! We’ve seen some confusion over this in the past."

Reporting damages helps emergency management officials understand the scope of damages and provide resources! Reporting damages DOES NOT mean you are filing a claim for assistance! Remember to keep checking back for available resources! #louisiana #houma #terrebonne #disasterrelief"58 likes, 1 comments - emergencylegalresponders on September 12, 2024: "Louisiana Francine survivors, if your home was damaged in the storm, now is the time to report your damages to damage.la.gov. "The United Houma Nation, the largest #Indigenous tribe in #Louisiana, has secured a $56.5 million grant to enact a massive plan to deal with growing climate risks that tribal leaders hope will serve as a model, ranging from infrastructure improvements to potential relocations.

The grant to fund the hazard mitigation and resilience plan was announced at a press conference in Houma on Friday organized by the tribe. The money is being awarded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and U.S. Department of Commerce.

Over the next five years, tribal members and partnering organizations will build resilience hubs across the six-parish tribal area, expand a disaster-ready communication network and ultimately establish a community-led migration plan. The plan is designed to create stronger infrastructure and enhance the short, medium and long term needs of the tribe’s 19,000 citizens."

The rate of global heating caused by humans is at an all-time high

Global heating caused by humans is advancing at 0.26 degrees Celsius (°C) per decade – the highest rate since records began, according to research by over 50 leading international scientists. They find that in 2023, global surface temperatures were 1.43°C above their pre-industrial levels, with human activity accounting for 1.3°C of that figure.

"As many of you know, I'm gearing up to move out New Orleans for the first time since 2005 after #HurricaneKatrina. I love New Orleans, and it will always be my home, but gentrification has made it harder for native black New Orleanians to survive and prospects have only gotten more grim with time. That, plus living in a place soaked in a lifetime of trauma make it imperative for me to leave for my own survival."

Took my spouse nearly an hour to ask what I was doing… & I wasn’t exactly quiet😂

Me: I read an article so now I’m moving your crème de corps into a glass bottle

I do not like #loreal & they just bought another really great company #aesop & this lotion has #PEG but they do sell it in refillable form, my product usage is bare minimal so & not learning to make lotion

Everything should be refillable & sold in glass containers but what do I know🙄 #climatecatastophe
