Did Samsung take down One UI 7 for the S24 series?

An hour ago, SamMobile claimed that the base Galaxy S24 model and the Galaxy S24+’s One UI 7 firmware for Korea and for Europe, which was released on April 10th for Europe and on April 7th for Korea with build number BYCG, has been taken down. The Ultra models seemed to be unaffected, so we have investigated the contents of the article, and found that we may have reached to a conclusion that there may be problems with the Exynos 2400 chip, but nothing is confirmed yet.

So, we’ve started investigating the official Samsung update servers and found that:

  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
    • Models SM-S928N and SM-S928B still have the BYCG update
    • Models SM-S928U and SM-S928U1 still have the BYCH update
  • Galaxy S24+
    • Models SM-S926N and SM-S926B have the AYB6 update now; there is no longer the BYCG update
    • Models SM-S926U and SM-S926U1 still have the BYCH update
  • Galaxy S24
    • Models SM-S921N and SM-S921B have the AYB6 update now; there is no longer the BYCG update
    • Models SM-S921U and SM-S921U1 still have the BYCH update

We’ve gone deeper to check to see if the foldables, which are the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, were too affected by this problem, and it seems that the issue didn’t affect them; it only affected the Galaxy S24 series except the Ultra model.

  • Galaxy Z Fold6
    • Models SM-F956N and SM-F956B still have the BYCK update
    • Models SM-F956U and SM-F956U1 still have the BYCK update
  • Galaxy Z Flip6
    • Models SM-F741N and SM-F741B still have the BYCJ update
    • Models SM-F741U and SM-F741U1 still have the BYCK update

So, with our confirmation that there is no problem with the foldables and with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, this issue is isolated to all base Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models with the Exynos 2400 chips in it. The exact reason as to why is unknown, as Samsung plans to start the wider rollout to the Galaxy S24 series in other countries on April 14th, but we fear that this may actually cause delays for the global rollout.

So, if you have the affected models and you haven’t updated to One UI 7 yet, you can’t update your phone now.

April 7th – One UI 7 release date

Samsung has recently published a blog post on the official newsroom website saying that they’ve chosen Monday, April 7th, 2025 (date may be different in other markets, such as April 10th for USA and April 14th for Malaysia), as the final One UI 7 release date starting point. This aligns with an earlier blog post from the company that was talking about the Beta program expansion for S23 series, Z Fold/Flip6, and Tab S10 where it stated that the official rollout will start within April, with the New Zealand version of the newsroom stating that the April rollout will be for all markets.

According to Samsung, One UI 7 brings “AI-driven enhancements that make everyday interactions more meaningful and intuitive.” They state that they’re going to start the rollout of the update with the Galaxy S24 series and the Z Fold/Flip6 foldables, and will expand the update gradually to other eligible Galaxy phones and tablets within the coming days and weeks, including, but not limited to:

  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 6
  • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 5
  • Galaxy Tab S10
  • Galaxy Tab S9

Availability of the update and its timing will vary depending on the market, so be patient until the update appears. Then, you can enjoy the below One UI 7 features.

One UI 7 introduces a brand new interface built for AI, helping users interact with their devices more naturally than before while following the simple, impactful, and emotive design that leads to cohesive design. It includes Now Bar, which gives you real-time updates that matter the most on the lock screen, such as the stopwatch, voice recording, or even music playing and workout status.

Galaxy AI has been expanded in One UI 7 to introduce more features, such as:

  • AI Select: intuitively understands context and makes selection suggestions based on it. For example, while watching a video, AI Select suggests saving the video as GIF.
  • Writing Assist: easily summarizes or automatically formats content in which text can be selected to help you write meaningful sentences. Available in 2024 and 2023 flagships.
  • Drawing Assist: brings ideas to life with more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. Available in 2024 and 2023 flagships.
  • Audio Eraser: isolates categories of sounds and removes unwanted sounds, such as wind noise and music. Available in 2024 flagships.
  • Deeper Gemini Integration: allows you to long-press your phone’s side button to let you give it voice prompts so that Gemini can pull information tailored to your needs.
  • Natural Search in Settings: lets you use natural language to search for a specific settings for your device. For example, say “My eyes are feeling tired,” and it pulls recommendations about enabling eye shield and adjusting brightness. Available in 2024 and 2023 flagships.

Of course, there are far more features introduced in One UI 7, which will begin its rollout of the stable update in April 7th.

Early “rollout” for AT&T version of Samsung Galaxy S24 debunked

A Reddit user has claimed that they got the One UI 7.0 update early for the AT&T locked version of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In a deleted Reddit post, the user claims that AT&T had started distributing the One UI 7.0 update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Before the user deleted the post, ThatJoshGuy has managed to take the screenshots of the One UI 7.0 build, including the software information one that showed that it was running on a BYBI build of One UI 7.

According to the latest stable firmware information from the server, we have found no reference to the BYBI version of One UI 7, which tells us that the user has somehow gotten the pre-production device that now runs a non-final version of One UI 7. Samsung didn’t start rolling out the update yet until April starts, so you can’t get this version of One UI at the moment. In addition to that, the recruitment for the Beta program for the S24 series is not longer open.

So, in short, there is no rollout of the update, but it’s more like a case of a user getting a non-production phone that gets all the test versions. You can’t get a non-production phone by all means.

According to the screenshots, the build contains some of the changes that the Z Fold/Flip 6 beta builds incorporate, such as the media player live notification that makes playback management easier than the older Beta versions of One UI 7. The following screenshots verify this claim:

The media player now shows as a live notification, which is similar to what you get in One UI 6. You can turn this live notification on from the live notification settings.
