I 'boost' stuff I find interesting, or think needs more awareness, or is just damn funny.
I 'like' stuff to let the poster know I read it and appreciate/acknowledge/see the effort required to make the post. I may not agree with the sentiment but if it's in my locus of topics du jour I make an effort to acknowledge if relevant as an outlier.
Mastodon has no algorithms and I'm on a single user instance (i.e. just me!) so it is what it is - I guess. If you are offended by anything I post or respond to then let me know and we can talk about the topic.

Ich fand den Umgangston im #Internet zu Zeiten von #Netiquette + Leuten, die sie kannten und respektierten deutlich besser.
Und das hatte aus meiner Sicht kaum bis gar nichts mit dem Thema Sietzen zu tun, wie die Kommentare im Artikel suggerieren.

@isotopp Das ist meine Rede schon seit langem. In der Zeit der SLIP/PPP - Verbindungen war #Netiquette selbstverständlich. Heutzutage ist viel des Netzes eine Güllegrube. Nur Verantwortlichkeit kann Anstand zurückbringen.

Il y a certainement des inconvénients au fediverse (ça prend plus du temps de s'y adapter surtout quand on vient d'autres réseaux), mais je me sens beaucoup plus à l'aise sur Mastodon que sur les autres réseaux 
Connaissez-vous d'autres ressources où les codes de Mastodon sont documentés et expliqués pour les nouveaux·elles arrivant·e·s ? (pas le manuel d'utilisation, mais plutôt de netiquette de mastodon/fediverse.) 4/4
You know people who join a Matrix or Discord channel, then after a few seconds ask, "is this place dead?" and leave without waiting for an answer? Or they say "hi" first, you greet them back, but they already left.
When I got online, #netiquette guides for IRC made sure to point out that people idle in the channels a lot, so if they fail to notice you, *say something first*. Preferably what you came to ask.
Now teaching people how to behave is considered rude. Enjoy the results.

Yes, I posted a #FediverseIdea 2 years ago, posing that we need #botiquette besides #netiquette .. got a bit of follow up, but it should really be turned in to an #ActivityPub #FEP best-practice guide.
Codeberg.org#BotiquetteFediverse knows many bot accounts. There's informal way to indicate you do not appreciate being followed by a bot, by adding #nobot to your profile.
Some bots have great functionality, others are 'Meh', and yet others may be malicious. It is often hard to tell what a bot does, what its code is...

Not everything requires a response.
If you mostly agree with a post, give it a like/star/whatever, and move on with your life. If you disagree, but the person isn't hurting anyone, then the post is not for you.
I just want the fediverse to be a safe place we can share together, where people can come to be themselves, and where we can connect and help each other. We all need this.

Par pitié quand vous tootez un lien vers une vidéo, ne vous contentez pas d'un "c'est incroyable !" ou "super cette vidéo !".
Faites l'effort de dire de quoi ça parle, ne serait-ce qu'avec des tags. Exemples : #robotique, #économie, #vélo, #oiseaux...
Ça permet aux internautes de savoir immédiatement si le sujet serait susceptible de les intéresser. Vous ferez gagner du temps à plein de monde.
