I've spent the afternoon writing an EPUB format writer for @novelwriter. It now has all the meta data XML files and can dump raw text of the novel without text formatting, so that's very good progress.
Next is of course to make it also format the text itself for the pages.
It's an interesting format to work with, and like ODT and DOCX is rather messy. Like DOCX, I get the feeling it's been modified a lot too.

Unter unseren Followern befinden sich doch auch einige Menschen der schreibenden Zunft. Sind darunter evtl. auch welche, die Erfahrung in der Erstellung von #eBooks im #EPUB-Format haben? Welche Programme sind denn hier unter #Linux empfehlenswert? Und nicht nur für die reine Erstellung, sondern bspw. auch zur Validierung des Buches oder zur Konvertierung in andere Formate (PDF, HTML etc.). Eine Änderungsverfolgung mittels eines Codeverwaltungssystems wäre ebenfalls hilfreich.

I can now extract a full #ePub which was "protected" by Readium's #LCP Profile 2.0.
I haven't found a way to reverse engineer the encryption. Nor have I cracked any cryptographic keys. I haven't misused anyone's computer, nor connected to anyone else's computer and run code there.
I simply politely asked the app to give me the unencrypted files and it did so.
It is a slow, tedious, and manual process. But, crucially, it works.

What are the best Android epub readers? Willing to pay for a good privacy friendly app, but payment method would need to be outside of Google Play store.
